Today we spent some time with our new Service Manager for Cannon Fire Sprinkler Contracts: Ben Goodwin. Lets get to know him and get an insight into a day in the life of Ben!
What is your past work experience, and education?
I left school aged 18, having completed my A-levels, wanting to find an industry that I could sink my teeth into. I started as a junior service administrator and have worked my way up to service manager over the past almost 6 years
What do you do in your role as Cannon Fire Sprinkler Contracts Service Manager?
My role consists of overseeing the sprinkler service department, making sure office staff, service engineers & clients have the necessary support they required.
What is your favourite part of the job?
I thoroughly enjoy interacting with our clients and continuously learning new things.
What do you like most about working for Cannon Fire Sprinkler Contracts?
The team! CFS is a brilliant team to work within, full of dedicated people who all pull in the same direction, whilst of course still allowing the important time for some fun along the way. Meet the rest of our team here.
What skills do you find most useful to do your job?
It is imperative that systems are left live & operational, therefore the ability to problem solve is very important – especially when dealing with urgent call outs.
What do you most like to do on days off?
I enjoy watching most sports, especially football, which I play once a week with friends. I also love all things motorsport, including go karting & watching formula 1, which I will be watching live at Silverstone in July.
Tell us about your proudest achievement.
My proudest achievement would be purchasing my first house with my partner in July of last year.
How would your colleagues describe you?
I would say my colleagues see me as motivated & hard working but who also likes to have a laugh!
What are you reading / binge watching at the moment?
Like many, I have recently finished the last season of Peaky Blinder, and I am now watching Breaking Bad – although I do understand I am late to the party on that one!!
Who do you admire, and why?
I admire Lewis Hamilton for all he has achieved in Formula 1, not only is he one of the greatest F1 drivers of all time, he also stands up for his beliefs & wants to make a difference.
